Understanding and Guiding Clients through Their Path

Laura has practiced family law since graduating from Michigan State University College of Law in 2015. She believes that the more information she has, the better she can represent her clients and often jokes that she knows her clients’ lives better than she knows her own.

Family law litigation is complicated and Laura is committed to demystifying the process for her clients – if a client wants an explanation of the details of the Michigan Child Support Formula or the legislative intent behind the Child Custody Act of 1970, Laura will give them a brief, but thorough explanation. While Laura is happy to explain the history, development, and trends in family law litigation, she is also conscious of her clients’ budgets and balances the competing needs of clarity and brevity.

Understanding the process means that Laura is equally adept in the courtroom and in settlement discussions and that her clients are prepared for what happens at each stage in their case.

She is on the Family Law Council and heads the technology committee for the family law section.

Outside of her legal practice, Laura’s time is spent kayaking, watching college football games, and raising her son who was born in September 2020.
